150th Anniversary of St Paul’s, Scotforth

St Paul’s Church in Scotforth has been a visible landmark on the A6 and at the heart of its local community for 150 years in 2026.

Welcome to St Paul’s from Rev Catherine Haydon:

Welcome to St Paul’s Church, Scotforth as we celebrate our 150th anniversary in 2026. Whether you’ve been coming here for a lifetime of if this is your first time through the door, all are welcome here.  Things may have changed over the years but at the heart of all we do is a love for Jesus and our local community. We’re thrilled that you are joining us as we celebrate 150 years of this unique building and the community we’ve built around it. Come with us as we meet with Jesus by walking in the footsteps of St Paul.

Our 150 Prayer

Loving God, we thank you for 150 years of worship here at St Paul’s, Scotforth. We give thanks for all who have gone before us, whose faith and devotion built this community. As we celebrate the past, guide us into the future. Renew us with your Spirit, that this church may continue to be a place of hope, welcome and love. Walk with us as we follow Jesus in the footsteps of St Paul, now and in the years to come. Amen.

We begin our year of 150th Anniversary Celebrations at St Paul’s on Sunday 22nd February 2026 at our 9.45am service where our special guest will be The Rt Rev Philip North, Bishop of Blackburn.  Following this service there will be refreshments, including cake. We are also inviting past clergy and local dignitaries to this service.

Work has begun on a vast array of different events over the 12 months including heritage exhibitions and talks, updating history documents and making them available, church tours, concerts, drama productions, auctions and fundraising events, walks, art exhibitions, gala dinner, pilgrimage to follow the journey of St Paul, initiatives with Scotforth School and other local groups etc. Below is a booklet which will be available in church outlining events and more useful information:

St Paul's Church, Scotforth

In the very best sense, St Paul’s Scotforth thrives in being a parish church deeply rooted in our local area. While we are the historical cornerstone of Scotforth, we are challenged prayerfully to meet the changing spiritual and social needs of those in our community. The recent pandemic has made us question who we are as a church and what type of church we want to be, as the living, breathing Body of Christ here and now. We look forward to worshipping God, growing in faith, and serving the community in the weeks, months, and years to come. Please let us know how we can serve you to the glory of God so that we can partner in the mission of ministry of our Church.
